FAQ

WHY THE HAPPY CAMPER?
We know we aren’t cheap. We’re definitely a premium service. But you get a lot with us you don’t with a normal event bartender.
 
First there’s the bar. We have a high-end cocktail bar on wheels, built into a beautiful 1972 Airstream Safari. Whereas most venues and bartenders just offer drinks like gin and tonic, we do real, world-class cocktails designed by an award-winning mixologist. A cocktail with Matt’s home-made ginger beer won the Cleveland US Bartender’s Guild cocktail contest. We use fresh juices and all natural ingredients to make our mixers from scratch. We do things that are even hard to find at a cocktail bar, like amazing carbonated drinks, barrel aged drinks, etc. Whether you prefer Bud Light in a bottle or a higher quality local microbrew on draft we'll be happy to serve whatever you prefer.
  
We’ll work with you to make a custom menu from our list of classic and modern cocktails for your event, and if you have a favorite we can probably make that too!

WHAT OTHER EXPENSES ARE THERE?
Just us and the booze! The state of Ohio does not allow us to resell alcohol, but our price includes everything else for your bar.
 
HOW MUCH WILL THE ALCOHOL COST ME?
Generally we estimate about 1 drink per person per hour for weddings, parties, and corporate events. We recommend good but inexpensive liquors, so the per drink costs generally average in the $1 range if we stick with mainly cocktails and craft beer on draft, but they can go up from there. Wine is typically more expensive, cocktails less (because everything but the liquor is included) and beer in the middle.
 
So for a 5 hour, 200 person party we estimate:
 
5 hours * 200 people * $1 = $1,000 for the alcohol.
 
But again, that’s just an estimate, and it really depends what you want us to serve.
 
WHEN DO I NEED TO MAKE A RESERVATION?
We book up fast for Saturdays during prime wedding season (May through October) but we’re expanding every year to meet demand so please feel free to contact us at any time to see if we have openings. Events get cancelled, and it just might be your opportunity to snag the Happy Camper and send your event over the top!
 
We’re also building a second bar for a slightly smaller-scale version of our main service. We’ve spent the last year training a world-class team of wedding bartenders, so we just might have your date available! 
 
Dates other than Saturday also tend to have more availability, and we also have a lower minimum price.
 
WHAT ARE YOUR PAYMENT POLICIES?
To reserve the Happy Camper for an agreed upon day or days we will require a payment of 50%. Full payment should be made by day of event.
 
ARE YOU INSURED?
Yes, with both liquor liability and general liability insurance. Even if you don’t hire us, make sure whoever you hire has liquor liability insurance! Even if you just throw some beer in coolers, you’re going to need that.
 
WHAT’S THE HAPPY CAMPER’S PROCESS?
Step 1. We figure out your date, number of guests, and service level. Once we have that, we agree upon a price.
Step 2. Sign contract and place deposit. This holds your date.
Step 3. We figure out your menu. We like to finalize this at least a month before your date. I’ll order everything for you, all you have to do is call in credit cards to pay for them. We’ll pick up everything, prep the cocktails, and bring them with us.
Step 4: Enjoy your event! We bring everything for the bar service, so just tell us where to set up and we’ll be there. We always aim to get there hours before your event, just to leave time for last minute adjustments.
